Base Rate Cut
There was a surprise cut of 0.5% in the Base Rate yesterday in line with a global agreement, reducing the interest rate to 4.5%. There is a lot of speculation over how much the interest rate will be cut by, but we believe there will be further significant cuts in the interest rate, with the rate coming down to between 3% and 3.5% by the middle of 2009.
